He also emphasized that it is necessary to ensure conditions for such work and reminded that great number of domestic experts visits world centers, in that way gaining an insight into new treatment methods, which they later use in their practical work. „It is a good thing that we have experts who perform certain interventions very well, because when someone performs a difficult intervention very well in that way he/she pushes others to do the same even better and surpass him/her” said Simonovic. He pointed out example of dr Igor Maljković from Bor, plastic and reconstructive surgery specialist, who has, in the last six years performed more than 1500 reconstructive and aesthetic surgeries.

In July of this year, in the Health center in Bor he performed the first surgery of microsurgical reconstruction of breast. Team of doctors, among who dr Maljkovic was also present, connected blood vessel of the thorax with the blood vessel of abdomen tissue and in that way formed new breast to the patient, who previously had her breast removed due to the cancer.

His colleague, dr Olivera Kosovac has for years performed such interventions at The Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia. She said this is the procedure that is applied in world centers.

Such interventions, she explained, can be performed right after breast surgery itself, but also later. “This is the reconstruction which gives back the symmetry to the breast, and very often correction of other breast is also performed” explained dr Kosovac.

During the last few years in Serbia many foreign experts participated in the treatment of patients using new methods and exchanged experiences with domestic experts, who were introduced with state-of –the- art standards in the profession.

Famous world names from the field of interventional cardiology, together with their colleagues from Serbia, have operated most difficult heart disease patients and removed and prevented narrowing of blood vessels with a special method, and post operative period was successful.
