What can a nose surgery do for you?

Although Owen Wilson does not talk about his nose, his appearance is subject of great debate on the internet. Not only that people consider he should operate his nose but they also initiated campaigns on social networks in which they insist on change of his appearance.owen nos

If one successful actor and screenplay writer cannot defend himself from such situations, how can an “ordinary” man with “unusual” nose escape the attention that nose like that can cause?

If you are not bothered by your nose and you normally live with it (like, for example, me) – then there is no need for you to further read this text.

For all those that are bothered by their nose, there is a solution. Rhinoplasty, better known as a “nose job”, today represents a procedure that can completely change appearance of a nose.

What can be changed with Rhinoplasty?

  • nose height can be decreased or increased (we observe horizontal line from the cheek to top of the nose)
  • nose length can be decreased (vertically from the root to the top)
  • angle between lip and top of nose can be changed, so that it doesn’t hang any longer, but it can be snub if you want it to be
  • ridge from the nose dorsum seen from the profile can also be removed
  • top of the nose can be completely changed– no more does the nose need to be wide or round
  • nostrils can be narrowed and shape and position of nose septum can be corrected
  • breathing problems caused by nose septum deviation can be solved

How Rhinoplasty is done?

In some rare cases this can be a banal procedure when filler is inserted into problematic region which needs to be strengthened or leveled. However, more often during surgery I perform the following:

  • I plan all necessary steps, all in accordance with pre-operative agreement with the patient and his/her wishes
  • I make incisions for open Rhinoplasty and prepare the tissues
  • I remove excess bone and cartilages in order to achieve desired profile
  • If necessary, I correct nose root
  • I perform osteotomies necessary for fine shaping of nose walls
  • with assistance of ORL specialist I perform necessary procedures on the nose septum
  • I correct appearance and position of the top of the nose
  • If necessary, I correct nose and nostrils base
  • I suture (stitch used by surgeons to hold tissue together), tamp the nose and put plaster immobilization
  • after a wake up I explain to the patient what we did, what he/she should expect and how to act in the next period, give him/her pain killers and send him/her home

Instead of a conclusion I will only say that today you don’t need to have a nose you don’t like, but you can have a perfect or nose you wish to have. However, this takes time because nose surgery is not an “instant” procedure and first results are visible within approximately two weeks, and final ones not until 6-12 months.
